What To Expect
The waters around Húsavík are home to several species of cetaceans, including the more common Humpback and Minke whales, and rarer visitors, such as Blue, Fin and Killer whales. White-beaked dolphins can also be seen on some of our tours. These magnificent creatures are a sight to behold, and our team of whale-watching experts works tirelessly to provide our guests with an adventure of a lifetime.
In addition to whale watching, our tours offer breathtaking views of the beautiful Icelandic coastline and the chance to spot sea birds. The Atlantic Puffin can be spotted between May and mid August. Our boat Moby Dick provides a comfortable platform for observing wildlife. Our knowledgeable guides will provide a wealth of information about whales, their ecology and habitat, and other marine species.
During a typical whale-watching tour, we will head West towards Kinnarfjöll mountain range, where the highest point is Syðri Háganga *(1284m). Across Skjálfandi Bay, we can expect to see the Humpback whale, and occasionally the Minke whale, and sometimes other species like Blue or Fin whale. We will spend the rest of our tour with the whales and return to Húsavík after 2.30/3 hours.
