Guided Canoe Tour Amsterdam East
Overview
Being on the water on a canoe is a great relaxing experience and a great way to explore the hidden gems of Amsterdam East. The areas we will paddle are quite on the water, especially in the morning.
We'll take it easy, young and old will be able to keep it up. There is a speed trap somewhere along the waterway, I'll challenge the restless among you to have a go!
There's no need to fear to get a wet suit, but of course you cannot prevent some splashing drops your fancy shoes. Don't wear your best shoes & pants, don't bring laptops and other things that don't particularly like water. There will be dry bags to put some things, but better safe then sorry.
The ending point is a small swim spot for locals, feel free to hang out after our tour!

What To Expect
We'll take it easy during our 6km paddle tour, starting in the Eastern Docklands at Borneo Island, kayaking to the Eastern Islands and back.
After a coffee/tea, a Dutch Stroopwafel and some instructions, we will start our tour in the water of 'Entrepot', facing 19th century warehouses.
Paddling through de 'Nieuwe vaart' we'll have a peak at Museum Shipyard 't Kromhout and from there enter a tiny gap in the quai to arrive in the Eastern Island and see its new developments.
Following the Dijksgracht towards Nemo, we'll have a great view over 'Open Havenfront' and face what the crew of the 17th century ships saw when returning home after a long sea journey.
After cornering at the maritime Museum with its replica of the 17th century ship 'Amsterdam' we will head back towards Borneo island.
On our way back, we can have a short peak from the water at the backside of Amsterdam Zoo 'Artis', where you most likely can see some giraffes and if we're lucky a lion and an elephant.
At our return, you can have a swim at our starting point if you like, do bring your swimming gear!
