The town of Franeker (one of the famous 11 cities of Friesland) has many beautiful sights, but the highlight is the oldest working planetarium in the world! This accurately moving model of the solar system was built between 1774 and 1781 by a Frisian wool comber. It is suspended from the ceiling of the living room of a beautiful canal house.
