Lake Vouliagmeni

Lake Vouliagmeni, situated to the south of Vouliagmeni, Greece, is a small lake with brackish water. It is fed by underground currents that permeate through Mount Hymettus. The formation of this lagoon dates back approximately 2,000 years when a large cavern collapsed as a result of an earthquake.What makes the lake truly remarkable are its distinctive environmental conditions. Warm seawater, ranging from 28 to 35 degrees Celsius, enters the lake through an underground channel that meanders through a network of submerged caves. As a result, the lake maintains a minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius (typically ranging between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius). Additionally, the lake has served as a spa since the late 19th century.Further inside the mountain, there exists an underwater cave that extends deeply, remaining unexplored in its entirety. Even with the use of sonar detection, tracing the cave's end appears to be an impossible task.
