Overview

The region of the Hardangerfjord – the fifth longest fjord in the world and the second longest fjord in Norway – has attracted people for millennia: first people came here after the last Ice Age around 7000 BC, the Vikings used its waterways, medieval farmers settled its fertile shores, poets and artists of the Romantic era visited the fjord for inspiration, tourists from abroad started coming here 200 years ago. The majestic beauty of this area is the reason. Experience Norway's magnificent nature concentrated in Hardanger region: you will see lush valleys, barren mountain landscapes, raging waterfalls and, of course, the Queen of the Fjords—the Hardangerfjord—on a 3-hour relaxing fjord cruise. Your own professional driver-guide provides interesting commentary to the sights and general information about Norway. Car on this tour is one of our Mercedes minivans or Tesla Model X (for 3 and less people) All of our cars have Norwegian Passenger Transport License.

What To Expect

Bergen

Our tour starts in the city of Bergen - the Gateway to the Fjords. The city was founded in 1070 and contains many historical and cultural landmarks. We will pass some of them on our way from the city and also on our return to Bergen. We drive straight to the Vøringsfossen waterfall – the farthest attraction from Bergen on this tour. This is done so you can take the fjord cruise on the passenger ferry in the afternoon. There is only one departure from Eidfjord.

This magnificent structure is preceded by an 8 km (5 miles) long tunnel. Another tunnel awaits on the other side. We stop at the viewpoint overlooking the fjord and the bridge on the other side.

We continue our drive along the Hardangerfjord, pass the village of Eidfjord and start gradually ascending to the Hardangervidda plateau, past Øvre Eidfjord and trough elaborate tunnels in the mountainside of Måbødalen valley. Our next stop, and the main destination of the journey, is Vøringsfossen waterfall, 182 metres (597 ft) tall, located at the very end of Måbødalen valley where the Hardangervidda begins. Expected time of arrival is 12:00. The viewpoint consists of several secure platforms overhanging the waterfall and the canyon. The view is mesmerizing: raging waters falling to the bottom of the canyon, the rugged valley with a stream meandering below surrounded by lush yet fragile tundra landscape.

If you see a Badge of Excellence label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through City Boat Tours over a 12-month period.

The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We're always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
