At the center of Copenhagen's beating heart in Vesterbro lies an unassuming little cellar bar. This is the site of the very first Mikkeller Bar. Originally founded with an ambition to create the best beer bar in the world, this would come to be the blueprint for multiple locations worldwide. None of this was known back when the bar first opened its doors. Back then, Mikkeller founder and CEO Mikkel Borg Bjergsø had a wish to create a cozy place where beer enthusiasts from all over the world could enjoy not only his own beers, but the absolute best that the beer world had to offer – both old and new.

The Vesterbro area’s main street Istedgade exudes diversity. Since a complete makeover in 2007, Sønder Boulevard has been a popular stretch of green in Vesterbro used for relaxation and hang outs by people of all ages and all walks of life.Sønder Boulevard is home to many great shops and eateries. It's also a prime stretch for dog walking.The boulevard is lined with urban soccer fields, basketball, and ping pong tables.It's been designed for the people to use it and doubles as a yard for locals living in the surrounding apartment buildings.You can't say Sønder Boulevard without saying Absalon; Vesterbro's extended living room and a prime spot to chat up a local.
