This beginner-friendly scuba diving program guides you through beautiful locations, starting with essential surface skill practice and a concise theory session to build your confidence. Once ready, plunge into your first actual dive, descending up to 5 meters under the expert watch of our professional instructors. Prior experience is not necessary, making this the ideal way to explore the ocean's wonders safely and enjoyably.

Meeting and Pickup
Pickup begins earlier than starting time and drivers pick you up from your chosen location within the Chania region (including but not limited to Chania Town, Platania, Souda, Kalyves, Vamos, and Georgioupoli). We will email you with your pickup details-be sure to check your spam or junk folder. Alternatively, you can meet the Salty Descents Dive Center in Kalyves. Drivers are identifiable by their Salty Descents t-shirts and minivans.Drivers wait no longer than 10 minutes after the scheduled pickup time. The pickup time is confirmed after you book. Pickup times may vary depending on your location.Please note that this is a shared transfer, so the pickup time could be slightly earlier or later than scheduled.

What To Expect
Are you ready for an unforgettable journey beneath the surface?
-Pick-Up or Meet-Up: We'll either pick you up or meet you at our dive center, where you'll meet your instructor.
-Choose Your Gear: Your instructor will help you pick out gear that suits you best.
- Boat Prep: We'll head to the boat together, gear up, and get ready for our dive.
-First Spot: Surface Practice and Briefing: Get ready for a session to cover essential theories behind safe diving practices and equipment use basics and safety tips.
Have a break with bottled water and light snack while enjoying the boat trip.
- Second spot: Dive Time: Let's dive in and explore the stunning underwater world together, for about 45minutes, taking some pictures and videos for you.
-After we finish, we'll return back to the dive center to get ready for the drop-off or if you have your own transportation, you are more than welcome to use it.
Our experienced instructors will take you through step-by-step instruction, before diving, covering everything you need to know in order to make most of it!

Yes, we allow pregnant women to go on snorkeling. However, it’s crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before doing so to assess your individual health and pregnancy stage.
Jan 2022Yes, this is possible, as long as you are comfortable going into the water. All City Boat Tours snorkeling tours adhere to strict safety regulations and have been designed to be enjoyed by all.
Your safety is our #1 priority, which is why:
- You will be wearing a flotation device at all times.
- On many tours, there is a stairway from the boat into the water so you won’t have to “jump” in!
- There are trained staff in the water and watching from the boat at all times.
For these reasons, we believe that even non-swimmers can have a wonderful time on our snorkeling trips, however, the final judgment call is yours to make. Please note we do not give refunds if you decide not to snorkel on the trip.
Oct 2021The snorkel gear we use on City Boat Tours tours is high quality and for your protection, the equipment is sanitized after each use. However, if you feel more comfortable using your own snorkeling equipment, feel free to bring it on the tour. Please note, there is no discount for providing your own equipment and we can’t be responsible for any lost or damaged items.
May 2023Participants in the Chania Beginner Scuba Diving by Boat cannot fly in an airplane within 24 hours of their dive.
The main concern with scuba diving and flying is decompression sickness (DCS). Your body needs adequate time during an ascent to off-gas excess nitrogen, or you can form bubbles in your bloodstream, possibly leading to DCS.

Oct 2021There are no legal age limits for snorkeling. We have found that age 5 or 6 is a good age to learn the basics of snorkeling, however, it’s entirely up to individuals to make the best choice for their family.
Sep 2021- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the tour start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the tour start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the tour start time will not be accepted.
