What To Expect

The Eleftherna trail, which is part of the E4 European long-distance path, crosses through the ruins of the acropolis of the ancient city and the contemporary settlement of Eleftherna. It starts and ends in Margarites village, the village of potters. The art of pottery has been developing in the area since the Minoan era. The landscape of the trek is also magnificent as it passes through canyons, olive groves, and abandoned settlements.

If you want to combine your hiking with historical sites and traditional Cretan landscapes, this is the right path for you. The trail is not steep with big descents but easy and suitable for anyone.
