    Palazzo Strozzi

    Before arriving in Piazza Santa Trinita, we will meet Palazzo Strozzi in Florence is one of the most beautiful Italian Renaissance palaces. Of imposing size (15 buildings were destroyed to make room for it), it is located between the homonymous via Strozzi and piazza Strozzi, and via Tornabuoni, with three imposing identical portals on as many sides. A true masterpiece of Florentine Renaissance civil architecture, it was begun at the behest of Filippo Strozzi, a wealthy merchant belonging to one of the wealthiest families in Florence, traditionally hostile to the Medici faction.     Via de' Tornabuoni

    We will walk along via Tornabuoni, one of the most elegant streets of the city, symbol of the capital Florence and we will arrive in Piazza Santa Trinita, dominated in the center by the Column of Justice, a mighty column in oriental granite coming from the Baths of Caracalla in Rome to celebrate the victory of Cosimo I Medici against the city of Siena. In this small and characteristic square there is the church of Santa Trinita, a structure with a predominantly Gothic layout and appearance, where some absolute masterpieces are contained such as the Sassetti Chapel, (Francesco Sassetti was the director of the Medici's Bank).
