San Juan de Los Lagos is a town with more than 300 years of history in the Altos de Jalisco region, it was part of the so-called Camino Real that connected Mexico City with Santa Fe in the US state of New Mexico, it is one one of the most important municipalities in the state and was the epicenter of the Cristero war in the years from 1926 to 1938, visit the Cihuapilli Museum or Cristero Museum where you can learn a little more about the history of the area.
