Overview

See Istanbul's riverside monuments illuminated at night from a Bosphorus dinner cruise. Glide along the river with unobstructed views of palaces, mosques, and Bosphorus bridges while enjoying a delicious dinner. The evening's live entertainment includes belly dancing, folk dancing, a henna ceremony, and music that showcases Turkey's rich heritage. Pickup and drop-off are provided from European-side hotels.

Bosphorus Bridge (Pass By)

The Bosphorus Bridge spans across the Bosphorus Strait between Ortakoy district, on the European side, and Beylerbeyi, on Istanbul's Asian side, offering the chance for visitors to cross between the two continents that make up this unique and extensive city. The famous bridge is approximately 1.5 kilometres wide and 165 meters high with an underneath clearance of 64 meters which allows for larger ships to pass below. Construction of the Bosphorus Bridge began in 1970, under the command of Prime Minister Adnan Menderes who first proposed the idea in 1957. Three years later the building works were completed and the bridge was declared open on October 29th 1973, exactly 50 years after Turkey became an independent Republic.

It is situated on the banks of the Asian side of Istanbul in the fishing village of “Anadolu Hisarı”, which consists of old wooden houses listed under historical preservation protection and a small harbor on the petite “Göksü deresi”. You can make short boat trips from here and a stop at the restaurants on the shore, all of which offer a beautiful view of the Bosphorus. There is also an important Ottoman cemetery here.The main purpose of the construction of the Anatolian fortress was to support the first siege attempts of Constantinople towards the end of the 14th century. Furthermore, the fortress was responsible for controlling the brisk trade of the remaining Byzantine garrison on the Black Sea, especially from today’s Trabzon. In addition to the Byzantines and the Ottomans, the Venetians and Genoese also had a strong interest in the control of the strait.
