The second day of our five-day private tour of Portugal will take us to Sintra, the paradise of the Portuguese Aristocracy. We will discover the charm of the narrow alleys and the shops selling typical and regional products, heading to the Periquita confectionery, with its famous “Travesseiros de Sintra” sweets and also the “Queijadas de Sintra” waiting for you.

Park and National Palace of Pena

The choice of which palace (or palaces) to visit is yours, the guide will suggest which are the best to visit among: "Quinta da Regaleira", a 19th century palace. although it has an older appearance, with an impressive decoration, rich in Masonic symbolism, the Castle of the Moors, a testimony to the Islamic presence in the region, built between the 8th and 9th centuries, and expanded after the reconquest, and because not the Pena Palace, a fantastic and vitalizing reconstruction, to prove the romanticism of the 19th century, which received the passion and imagination of the "artist" D. Fernando, consort of D. Maria II.

Farol do cabo da Roca

The geological formation of “Cabo da Roca”, some prefer to call it “Promontory of the Moon”, a more poetic name, which fits the imaginable beauty of the place. With thousands of visitors every year, Cabo da Roca was mentioned by the Portuguese poet Camões in "Os Lusíadas", in his words, this is the place "where the land ends and the sea begins", it is part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, it is also the Westernmost Point of the European Continent

Lisbon, Fatima, Coimbra, and Porto

Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima

On the third day of our private five-day itinerary in Portugal, we will depart from Lisbon and visit Fátima, we will find three places of interest where you can attend a mass (optional), visit the Chapel of Apparitions, the first Chapel to be built immediately after the apparitions occupying a prominent place, not because of their size or grandeur, but rather because of the location, practically in the center of the Sanctuary. And also a quick visit to Casa dos Pastorinhos in Valinhos

Basilica of the Holy Trinity

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, built in 1928 in neo-baroque style, today houses the tombs of the children, but also the tomb of Sister Lúcia who died in 2005, and also the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, built in 2007 with more than 8,000 seats and 40,000 m² of area were designed by Greek architect Alexandros Tombazis, a modern and very imposing church.

Valinhos Sanctuary

University of Coimbra

The time has come to go to Coimbra, where we will begin our visit to the University of Coimbra (the oldest in Europe), with its highlights, such as the Joanina library, built in the 18th century in the university's former prison, it is simply one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, its decoration was completed only close to the 18th century and the frescoes were painted by Masters António Ribeiro and Vicente Nunes, and the portrait of Dom João V was made by the Italian Domenico Dupra. After visiting the library, we will continue visiting the University of Coimbra and other interesting places, such as; the Chapel of São Miguel, "sala dos Capelos", the "cabra" tower, among others.

Coimbra

Center of Coimbra, situated between the river Mondego and the University, a charming sidewalk where you can relax and admire this beautiful city, with its narrow streets, alleys and beautiful squares, and you will find countless cafes, sweet shops and restaurants. Rich in culture and cuisine, this area has been the commercial center of the city for hundreds, if not thousands of years, maintaining its genuine atmosphere and unique personality. Afterwards, we will continue our trip to Porto.

The Lello bookstore is perfect for lovers of literature and architecture, especially fans of "Harry Potter". Its staircase is a great attraction that served as inspiration for JK Rowling who, despite never having spoken openly about the period she was in Portugal, married a Portuguese man and lived in Porto when she began writing “Harry Potter and the Philosophical stone".

Sao Bento Railway Station

Another attraction that cannot be missed on a visit to Porto is the São Bento train station, where 20 thousand tiles by Portuguese artist Jorge Colaço will take you on a virtual journey through Portugal, the north in general, with a special emphasis on the different civilizations that passed through here and different occupations.

Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral)

Porto Cathedral, a church with a Roman-Gothic structure that began to be built in the 12th century, but with several renovations in the 17th and 18th centuries, stands the medieval rose window from the 12th century and, outside, the highlight is the side gallery, work by Nicolau Nasoni in 1736, decorated with tiles.

Igreja de Sao Francisco

The Church of São Francisco, built in the 12th century, initially with Romanesque architecture, was transformed into a Gothic and then Baroque style, three naves covered in gilded carvings, in which it is believed that more than 300 kilos of gold dust were used, another of the Curiosities of the Church is the Tree of Jesse, a polychrome wooden sculpture considered one of the best in the world of its type.
