In addition to the beautiful white houses, the village has more to offer due to its extensive history. Setenil de las Bodegas has two locally known streets: Cuevas del Sol, Cabrerizas and Cueva de la Sombra. The latter is in my opinion perhaps the most special. In the name Cueva de la Sombra you can find the word gloomy with a bit of imagination. This can also be a bit of the feeling that the street gives you. It is a street that is always in the shade. Due to a protruding rock wall, the houses below form a kind of tunnel that according to some give a claustrophobic feeling. In addition to these recommended streets, there is the Torre del Homanaje.This is a well-preserved part of a fortress that dates from the 12th century.From various points you get a beautiful view over the whole of Setenil de las Bodegas. And this view is more than worth a visit.

Plaza de Toros de Ronda

Plaza de Toros de Ronda This bullring Plaza de Toros is considered the first bullring in the world specifically built for bullfighting.It is also considered one of the most picturesque bullrings in the world and was designed by the same architect as the Puente Nuevo. The bullring of Ronda is the oldest in Spain and is considered the birthplace of modern bullfighting. It can accommodate 5,000 people, who can sit on one of the many shaded stands.The first fight took place in 1785 and the matadors were Pedro Romero from Ronda and Pepe Hillo from Seville. The bullring is built of sandstone and around the circle with a diameter of 66 meters there are Tuscan columns that give the bullring its typical appearance. Unique to this bullring is the fact that the royal box and the entrance for the bulls are on the same side. The bullring is also the only one with a stone fence.Ronda was the first to legalize the Real Maestranza in 1572, making it the first and oldest in Spain.
