Overview
In the south of Yucatán, the archaeological zone of Uxmal, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, emerges spectacularly.
Uxmal located 80 km. from Merida. It is said to be a little older than Chichen Itza and was built around the 4th century, but it has not been restored and remains as it was.
The most impressive structure, with a unique elliptical shape and a height of more than 35 meters, is La Casa del Adivino; According to an ancient legend, this pyramid was built by a dwarf in just one night.
You will find: the Pyramid of the Fortune Teller, with its Plaza de los Pájaros, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Ball Court, the Governor's Palace, the Great Pyramid, the Dovecote, the House of the Old Lady, the Cemetery and the Temple of the Phalluses.
Kabah, the second largest religious center of the Puuc style. With its Palace, The Great Pyramid and an arch that marks the main access to the site through the sacbé of Uxmal, Manos Rojas and one of the most important called Codz Pop.
