What To Expect
We will learn how to make a traditional Mexican piñata, online, while we talk about the origin of this distinctive craft and its participation in the Mexican culture. We will begin with the basic technique of its structure, then its colorful decoration, and we will end with the description of the ceremonies in which it plays an important role.
Participants need to get and prepare the required materials to make their own piñata:
– A small size balloon
– 1/2 cup of home made paste or white glue
– Recycled paper: newspaper, bond, kraft, etc. cut in small pieces approximately 1 x 1 inch
– 7 sheets of thick paper of card stock you can roll and stays firm
– 5 sheets of tissue paper with different colors, cut half of them in small pieces approximately 4 x 4 inch
– 1 sheet of decorative metallic wrapping paper
– Scotch tape
– scissors
– A medium thick cord, 20 inch long
