Overview

Located in the centre of Sainte-Mere-Eglise and only a few kilometers from Utah Beach and the landing beaches, the Airborn Museum facing the bell tower on which paratrooper John Steele was suspended on the D-Day.

Since May 2024 and the unveiling of the 5th building, the Airborne Museum is now one of the biggest D-Day museum of Normandy and of Europe.

Through spectacular museography, the Airborne Museum will make you live the D-Day alongside the American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne. Discover an exceptional collection of historical artifacts, an authentic glider and a C-47 aircraft that participated in the D-Day operations.

Airborne Museum

In the building "Operation Neptune", prepare to live the parachuting of June 6, 1944! Embark at night in a real C-47 plane in England, then land on the square of Sainte-Mère-Église in the middle of the fighting and take part in the battles that followed. A 20-minute film emotionally recounts life under German occupation and the liberation of Sainte-Mère-Église and the Cotentin region.New this year, go back in time with a Histopad! Thanks to Augmented Reality, interactivity, and hyper-realistic graphics of the Histopad tablet, you'll be transported to the heart of Normandy in 1944 and experience the highlights of D-Day. Immersion guaranteed! Witness the German occupation, see gliders landing, handle weapons and equipment to understand how they work, and discover the destinies that shaped History... all this is now possible thanks to the Histopad’s advanced technology! It is strongly recommended to arrive at least 2 hours before the museum’s closing time to fully enjoy the visit.
