Overview

Hear first-hand accounts of September 11, 2001, on this emotional walking tour of Ground Zero and the financial district with a local guide, uncover the stories surrounding 9/11, and get a better understanding of what happened on the day the World Trade Center fell.

The tour begins at the Financial district where you’ll meet your guide and learn about the role the building played after the attacks. From here, head to the 9/11 Memorial and gather around the Memorial Pools. Listen to your guide share detailed information about the monument and the design of the pools, as well as the architecture of the new World Trade Center and its symbolic use of materials, light, and reflections.

Continue the tour to the Firefighter’s Memorial where you can pay tribute to the victims and those who fought to save them. Next, visit the Eleven Tears Memorial, which is often missed by visitors without a guide. Finally, watch the reconstruction of the site at the Oculus.

Financial District

The Financial District of NYC located at the bottom tip of Manhattan, where the East River and Hudson River meet. It features amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and New Jersey, as well as the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridges. The Financial District encompasses roughly the area south of City Hall Park in Lower Manhattan but excludes Battery Park and Battery Park City. The former World Trade Center complex was located in the neighborhood until the September 11, 2001 attacks; the neighborhood includes the successor One World Trade Center.

Trinity Church

Trinity Church After the attacks of September 11, 2001, St. Paul’s Chapel, which sits directly across the street from the World Trade Center site, suffered no physical damage.
