At the origin of the museum, there is a man, Jean-Pierre Verney, passionate historian, who gathered for nearly 50 years objects and documents to tell the story of the First World War. In 2005, the Pays de Meaux bought this exceptional collection of more than 50 000 pieces and decided to build a museum to enhance its history!

With a collection of nearly 70,000 objects and documents retracing the daily and military life of the 14-18 war, the Museum of the Great War allows you to learn more about the First World War, also called the Total War.
