What To Expect

Explore Furnas and the off beaten track wilderness of the East of the island, its most remote part. Your guide will take you to see Furnas highlights - Furnas lake and Caldeiras, and then proceed to show you the breathtaking views of Nordeste coastline, on the viewpoints over the cliffs, full of flowers, and the waterfalls of "Ribeira dos Caldeirões" park. This tour also includes Povoação, the village where the first settlers of the island of São Miguel landed, Gonçalo Velho Cabral and his crew, in 1444, which would become the donatory captain of the islands of São Miguel and Santa Maria and responsible for the settlement of these islands. We can say that the history of the island of São Miguel begins in Povoação.
