St. Thomas Church

The history of Leipzig is interwoven with important events. The University of Leipzig was founded here in 1409 and the famous Battle of the Nations was fought near the city in 1813. The city played a key role in the fall of the Iron Curtain and the unification of Germany. See the historic sights and stroll through the Old Town. Around 1800 his remains were moved to the interior of the church, which was destroyed during the Second World War. It was not until 1950 that his coffin was finally placed on the altar of St Thomas.
