    Reynisfjara – also known as the Black Sand Beach is the most famous black sand beaches in Iceland and we do have many. Black sand beaches form after repeated volcanic eruptions, slowly eroding the lava over thousand and millions of years.At the Black Sand Beach you will also see the amazing basalt columns. Basalt columns have a special shape because of the way the lava cools, very slowly and cracking in to this shape. It is very rare to find basalt columns like this anywhere else in the world.

    Dyrhólaey means “Door Hill Island” but this “island” is one of the best viewpoints over the South Coast. On a clear day you will see Eyjafjalljökull glacier as well as Mýrdalsjökull glacier on one side and the Black Sand Beach on the other. The waves of the Atlantic Ocean to your left and right trying to erode the land away.
