2 Hour Tasting of Overlooked Wines of Rome and Lazio
Overview
We offer Rome's first and longest-running Italian wine tastings in English (since 2008) and are the only provider with a dedicated tasting space, designed solely for this purpose, with no interruptions nor outsiders on the premises. Our experience and long-standing contacts with winemakers all over Italy allow us to select the best wines for curious wine drinkers and teaching them with best didactic practices, while keeping the experience light and fresh.
All of the wines we pour at VinoRoma are from small independent producers that use a low-intervention, hands-off approach to winemaking. Some use the term "natural wine" but, really, this is the way wine has always been made since the beginning. For us, the chemicals and additives that have made their way into wineries in recent decades in the pursuit of convenience and profit are the real outliers, the "artificial wines", to coin a term. We wouldn't do that to you ;)

What To Expect
You will taste 6 locally-produced, low-intervention wines under the guidance of a professional certified sommelier and wine educator with decades of experience.
After an initial refresher of the steps of wine tasting, we'll go on to taste very different styles of wines from all over the region. As you taste each new wine you'll be introduced to a new characteristic and the reasons behind it.
You will learn about the effects different grape varieties, soil types, climate and winemaking techniques have on the end result, the glass of wine in front of you. You will also get a peek into the place wine has in Italian culture and history, general guidelines about how to pair wines with food, agricultural practices like organic, biodynamic and sustainable farming and how they affect the end result. Your interest and questions will definitely play a role in how deep and and in which direction the discussion goes - we meet each guest at exactly the level they are, be it novice, enthusiast or even sommelier or winemaker and take them a couple of steps further.
Printed info & learning materials will be provided.
