What To Expect
Meet your private guide at your San Diego hotel, and be whisked away by luxury car or SUV to neighboring Coronado Island, located just across shimmering San Diego Bay. As you drive across the distinctive San Diego–Coronado Bridge, admire views of the bay and downtown skyline.
When you arrive on the island, start with a comprehensive tour of the Hotel del Coronado, aka 'the Del,' built in 1888 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. Step into the lobby and downstairs hallway with your guide, who provides fascinating tidbits about the resort and its celebrity-filled heyday. View large photographs on display that present a historical timeline and offer a glimpse into the resort’s enchanting past.
Then head outside to sink your toes into the soft sand of Coronado Beach, often ranked one of the best in the United States, and snap photos of the Del’s famous red roof and white facade. Learn from your guide about the hotel's classic Victorian design as you join sunbathers and beachcombers for a stroll.
About a 10-minute walk away is the Glorietta Bay Inn, a boutique hotel that was once the home of wealthy businessman John Spreckels. Learn about this prominent figure in San Diego’s history as you see the 11-room mansion, and then hop back in your tour vehicle, stopping for a photo op of San Diego from Coronado Island before crossing the bridge and returning to your hotel for drop-off.
