The Tronqueira mountain range, located on the eastern side of São Miguel, features rugged dirt roads that connect Nordeste to the municipality of Povoação, near Faial da Terra. From the Tronqueira viewpoint, visitors are treated to stunning views of Pico da Vara, the island’s highest peak at 1,103 meters, and Pico Verde at 931 meters. This viewpoint lies within the heart of the Azorean Bullfinch habitat, surrounded by the island’s most significant patch of Laurel Forest.
