National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Venture beyond the ordinary and uncover the mysterious story of prehistoric communities living in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This tour emphasizes the general cultural achievements, the development of trade and technology, social contacts, the exchange of experiences, knowledge and ideas, the whole dynamics of the life of the area, which throughout a long period of prehistory was intensively involved, or in some aspects even shaped, the social and cultural trends of the known world at that time. During the war of 1992 – 1995, with the Museum being on the front line, in the besieged Sarajevo all the buildings suffered some level destruction. The Prehistoric wing of the Archeology Department was the most damaged therefore it took almost 30 years to reopen it. Around 3,000 finds have been selected to represent a chronological insight into the development of cultures of prehistoric periods. The inside story on reopening this exhibition is waiting the be discovered.
