House of Virgin Mary

The house of the Virgin Mary: visit and Eucharistic celebration at the house of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is known with certainty that John lived in Ephesus. Then he said to the disciple: Here is your mother! and from that moment the disciple received her in his house. Therefore, the Virgin could reasonably have followed John to Ephesus. In favor of this theory, there is also the presence, in Ephesus, of a basilica from the Constantinian period that was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The third Ecumenical Council, which proclaimed the Virgin “Mother of God”, took place in this basilica in 431. Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903) ruled favorably on these discoveries and reestablished them, mentioning Ephesus as the probable place of the Virgin's dormition.
