The first authentically Roman city in Spain was founded in 206 B.C. by Roman General Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus and was the birthplace of future Roman emperors Trajan and Hadrian.Take a walk along the old streets of the Archaeological Ensemble of Italica and explore the ruins of the houses and public buildings. See the amphitheater that had a seating capacity of 25,000 and was the third-largest in the Roman Empire.Admire the mosaic floors, the Traianeum, the statues of Diana, Venus, and Trajan, and the public baths.
