What To Expect

This is a unique opportunity to visit a home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Meet Patrizia at the entrance of Capo Market to buy fresh ingredients for your cooking class. This is a bustling street market that features a wide variety of vendors selling fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, cheese and household goods. Buy a few ingredients while learning about the local in-season products, before you walk back to Patrizia’s apartment for your Palermo cooking class in Sicily. Along the way you will pass through a beautiful historical area, just in front of the Cathedral.

Join Patrizia in her home kitchen for a hands-on cooking class and discover traditional Sicilian cuisine. You will learn how to cook four authentic dishes from scratch – appetizer, pasta, beef or fish dish and dessert, using family recipes. A few dishes that you might cook together are eggplant caponata, pasta alla norma or pasta with Sicilian pesto, sarde a beccafico (stuffed sardines) or arancine (fried rice balls) and cannoli or ricotta pie. After cooking, sit down to share the meal you helped prepare which will be served with local Sicilian wine and cheese.
