Fatima, a long-forgotten rural village that has become a major pilgrimage site since the day three shepherd children reported the apparition of the Virgin Mary in 1917. Visit the Shrine of Fatima, a basilica in honor of the apparition of the Virgin that attracts millions of Catholics every year. Then visit the UNESCO World Heritage Batalha Monastery, which illustrates the rich artistic heritage of the late 14th century. The tour ends in the medieval village of Óbidos. Follow your guide to one of Ginja's numerous wine shops for a tasting. Enjoy your free time exploring the medieval forts of this amazing village, the narrow streets, colorful houses and Gothic-style doors and windows decorated with flower pots and impressive tiles. Have a snack or stop by one of the numerous shops offering a wide range of beautiful handcrafted ceramics.
