Overview
A trial lesson can make an incredible and exciting gift for loved ones and friends or just to treat yourself! The Discovery Lesson is a hands on flying experience with 1 to 1 instruction at Redhill Aerodrome. Flight time is approximately 25 minutes in the local area where we aim to get the student on all of the controls.

What To Expect
When you arrive with us, enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere at our Helicopter Club Office. Take in the sights as you look across amazing views of a busy airfield before meeting with your Instructor. Before taking your flight you will be taken aside for a full safety briefing and a look at how the helicopter controls work. When you’re ready, you will enter the aircraft and your instructor will take you out over the beautiful Surrey countryside to try flying for yourself.
If you have ever wanted to try flying a helicopter there are a number of different options available to suit your budget. Our Discovery Lesson is designed to give you a taste of flight, both the Robinson R22 and Cabri Guimbal G2 helicopters are 2 seater aircraft where you and the instructor will be alone in the aircraft. Our Robinson R44 helicopter has 4 seats, and you will be able to bring 2 other flight enthusiasts along for the experience.
Most important of all, unlike many flight experience providers the published flight time is the actual time in the air and does not include the time in the classroom. Helicopters are probably the most exciting and rewarding machine to master.
The total flight time is estimated at 25 minutes, but we recommend allowing an hour for the whole experience with us.

- Suitable for all physical fitness levels
- R22 – Maximum weight 17St (108Kg), please advise us if over 15St (95Kg).
- R44 – If you choose one of our R44 trial lessons you can take up to two friends with you Free of Charge (weight permitting). R44 Maximum passenger weight 21St, please advise us if over 15St (95Kg).
- There is no minimum age for a helicopter lesson, however the student will need to physically be able to reach and operate all of the controls safely.
- Flights are subject to suitable weather conditions. In the event of unsuitable weather, you will be offered an alternative date.
- All passenger weights MUST be advised at time of booking. Due to comfort and weight / balance of the aircraft, passengers weighing over 15 Stone (95 Kg) should contact the carrier before booking.
- If you do not speak English fluently we may not be able to instruct you effectively, in which case you may not be allowed on the controls.
