Overview

The Etna and Alcantara Gorge tour from Taormina is a perfect combination of hiking and relaxation. In the first part of the experience, you will enjoy a hike around the Silvestri” craters, on the southern area of the volcano. Here, you will have the greatest views from a safe distance of the summit craters while walking on the lava fields, exploring ancient craters, and learning about the eruptions and the natural aspects of the area.
After around 1,5 hr excursion, we will drive down to the Alcantara Valley to visit the famous Alcantara Gorges. A unique activity, as you can take a refreshing walk in the chilly water of the river that flows in the middle of the pre-historic lava flows of Mount Etna and you feel connected with nature while you will learn curious geological facts.
