What To Expect
"Ilhéus das Cabras" emerged from a volcano with underwater origin and are the largest islets of the Azores, being considered as a nesting ground for a diversity of seabirds and a Protected Area. "Ilhéus das Cabras" are a great way to experience Terceira island landscapes. The tour starts as we head southeast and once we get close information about the history, geology and seabirds will be shared as we go around, showing the variety of volcanic structures, fissures and caves that form the Islets.
Within the "Ilhéus das Cabras" Protected Area we easily find several caves like the Eagles Ray’s Cave or the Cathedral’s Cave. These natural volcanic structures are located along the coast of the Islets, and they have these names for a specific reason, which you will discover during the tour. They are only accessible by boat, although limited by the type of boat or sea conditions.
