Overview

We depart for the village of Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great, to explore its archaeological site and museum. Excavations at the site have uncovered fascinating artifacts from the ancient city, including exquisitely detailed mosaic pavements, which are displayed in the local museum.
Next, we travel to Edessa and visit its renowned park and waterfalls, famous for their natural beauty. Afterward, we continue to Vergina, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Kingdom, where we visit one of Greece's most impressive museums. After some free time for lunch, we explore the museum, home to the royal tomb of King Philip II, Alexander the Great's father. The museum also houses gold and other priceless artifacts of exceptional historical value. Finally, we return to Thessaloniki.

What To Expect

Pella

Our guided tour begins at the archaeological site of Ancient Pella, the former capital of Macedonia and birthplace of Alexander the Great. Explore 2,500 sq. meters of symposium parlors and rooms with well-preserved 4th-century B.C. mosaic floors, including scenes like Dionysos hunting a lion. Excavations in 1957 revealed a city preserved in time, allowing you to imagine the glory of Ancient Macedonia with the help of our expert guide. Next, we visit Edessa, the "City of Water." Admire the stunning Karano waterfall, over 47 bridges, and charming parks, creating a fairytale water museum. You’ll also have free time to enjoy a local lunch.
